Hello, I’m Minsi Park (vi_taminc_)
My work begins at the moment when contrasting emotions sorrow and joy, anxiety and ecstasy collide and linger together on a single screen. Mirrors, fractures, the sensations of skin, and traces of breath appear again and again, leaving behind fragments of the day’s inner state. Sometimes the subject is my own face, other times just a passing shadow, yet the image never offer a complete answers. It only becomes whole when the viewer fills in the gaps with their own breath, memory, and presence.
I create images from the emotions of that day. Melancholy, anger, grief the feelings people often try to conceal, I bring forward and give form to. My work is not glamorous or pretty, but within it are the emotions I have endured. I hope those who share such feelings can confront their own emotions through my images and find a measure of solace.
For me, art is both a record and a space to breathe. And within that space, I wish for others to find room to breathe as well.
